Ted Nellen's Cyber English Homepage

Ted Nellen teaches English at Murry Bergtraum High School in New York City. His website is incredibly rich in information about teaching English with technology.

Cyber English 9

"CyberEnglish9 is a web based approach to the study of language arts in which students will read and study novels, poetry and drama and the elements of literature such as plot, setting, character and theme. Students will use the six traits of writing to assess their progress as writers and to help them eliminate weaknesses and improve strengths. In addition, students will work to improve their interpersonal communication skills through online discussions and face to face encounters with students, parents, and teachers. A formal presentation of each student's Webfolio, a collection of his or her cumulative work, is given at the end of the year."

Cyber Comp 10

Cybercomp 10 is a Sophomore composition class where web technology is fully integrated into the class. Students contribute to Cyberjourmals and an electronic discussion forum, as well as create web pages and participate in interactive assignments.

Cyber English: An Internet Class

Students construct a webfolio to present his/her work and webpage at the end of the year. Students also create an online magazine with articles on 20th Century British Authors. Links to Edgar Allan Poe CyberGuide, a poetry project, a Canterbury Tales project, an Arthurian Legends project, and more.

Miller's English

Here you will find assignments, resources on authors and units, models of student work, and other information. There are also materials related to Literature Circles, a teaching and learning method he employs as well as and some assignments related to The House on Mango Street, The Odyssey, and more.

March Movie Madness

Grade eight students at Ross Road School wrote and filmed movies based on the elements of a short story.

Virtual Lyrics -- Mrs. Gallant's Grade 10 English Class

Mrs. Gallant's students used their knowledge and understanding of the Internet and poetry to research the lyrics of songs, identified figurative language, and offered personal interpretations on the poetic nature of the lyrics.

Mrs. Goturk's English Page
